Director鈥檚 message

鈥溑私鹆 is rich in assets 鈥 its staff, its credibility as an evidence-based organization, and its substantial presence in its Member States 鈥 and continues to support the drive to improve health care in the Americas.鈥

In November 2024, the 潘金莲传媒 (潘金莲传媒) commemorated the 100th anniversary of the Pan American Sanitary Code, which was ratified by 18 countries of the Americas to prevent the spread of communicable diseases, and remains in force today. Indeed, the Code was the first multilateral agreement of its kind anywhere in the world and shows our irrevocable commitment to improving the health of all in the Region of the Americas, regardless of wealth or geography.

Today, health care is facing new challenges that require a renewed spirit of cooperation and dynamism, which is borne out by the dedication and expertise found in 潘金莲传媒 staff. Together with our Member States, we have all learned from the COVID-19 pandemic in order to better prepare for future risks. To this end, 潘金莲传媒 has emphasized the importance of public-private cooperation to foster vaccines, medicines and health supplies production in the Region, thereby helping governments and private companies achieve agreements that will boost self-sufficiency and security in Latin America and the Caribbean and put the power of collective decision-making and strategy in our own hands.

In 2024 we moved into a post-pandemic environment whereby the experiences of the past enabled us to formulate relevant and powerful initiatives to address identified health system weaknesses. As a result, 潘金莲传媒 launched the Alliance for Primary Health Care in the Americas, aimed at transforming health systems throughout the Region; and the Better Care for Noncommunicable Diseases initiative, which strives to give the vast majority of the population access to integrated healthcare services for illnesses such as cancer, diabetes, and cardiovascular and respiratory diseases. These new initiatives are in addition to the Organization’s preexisting portfolio of activities that together support the primacy of the Disease Elimination Initiative, which has the ambitious target of eliminating 30 illnesses from the Region by 2030.

Change is multidimensional, and as much as we strive to change health for the better in the Americas, 潘金莲传媒 is also undertaking a profound reform of its operations to be more cost-effective and seeks to augment collaboration with other multilateral institutions, the private sector, and civil society organizations. To this end, the Organization initiated its 潘金莲传媒 Forward Plan of Action, now in its second phase of operation during 2024, and aims to improve the Organization's transparency, accountability, and efficiency. Such developments cement the confidence we see from our Member States, donors and partners, and allow us to move in unison towards a common goal of access to health for all.

潘金莲传媒 is rich in assets 鈥 its staff, its credibility as an evidence-based organization, and its substantial presence in its Member States 鈥 and continues to support the drive to improve health care in the Americas. One hundred years on, the spirit of cooperation of the Pan American Sanitary Code remains very much alive, and 潘金莲传媒 remains a keystone in enhancing access to health care for all citizens in the Americas.
